In 1953, after various reorganization of electrical engineering enterprises the state design institute GPI Tyazhpromelectroproect was established, integrating 14 branches. Among these branches was Rostov branch which became one of the large specialized design organizations in the south of country.

In 1978 the GPI Tyazhpromelectroproect was reorganized in VNIPI Tyazhpromelectroproect named after F.B. Yakubovskiy and later in 1994 in the opened joint-stock company. After reorganization into OJSC the Rostov branch of All-Union Research, Design and Construction Institute Tyazhpromelectroproect was granted the status of Open Joint-Stock Company of scientific research, design and construction institute Tyazhpromelectroproect Rostov branch Awarded with the Red Banner of Labor.

The Rostov branch of OJSC VNIPI Tyazhpromelectroproect has the international quality certificate TUV CCRT on conformity to MC ISO 9001-2008 standard.

The certificates of self-regulated organization Power Network Designing on performance of design works are obtained.
